ParkingGreat restaurant.
FYI, Blake House is not closed. The former Red Lion pub is closed.
It's great to see one of Toronto's heritage buildings so tastefully restored. The see-through fireplace, the original stain glass window, and the huge prints of early 20th century Jarvis street all look great!
But, we go to a pub for food and drink so ...
We showed up at The Blake House to celebrate the Netherlands win on Sunday. We started with Heiniken, then ordered some appetizers. The calamari was lightly fried (not rubbery) and the citrus aioli was light & delicious! (For our first dish we were pleasantly surprised just how delicious this was and our expectation level just got kicked up a notch!!!) The "Irish style" nachos were potatoes, of course, and the toppings, stout beef & beans, cheddar, green onions, and chive sour cream were all lip-smacking, finger-licking good. For one person, this is a complete meal.
I had the Flat Iron Steak salad because I love steak salad, and while I ordered the steak medium rare, it needed to be at least medium well to be fully appreciate
this pub has closed.
