It pains me to give this place a 3, but I have to do it. My friend and I were Friday afternoon regulars at this place for nearly two years. We loved it for it's location atmosphere (good for conversation and window watching) and prices.

At first, we were generally warmly welcomed, and got good service. However, the place went through a serious period of staff turnover in our final 6 months, and the service level plummeted. During the final few visits, it seemed that the staff hated us. We don't know why.

Worst of all, the beer I always ordered (Waterloo Dark) began to be served with strange particles at the bottom of the glass. At first it was intermittent, and then it was every time. We complained about it each time (and maybe that's why they hate us now, "Shut up and eat your beer seeds!!"). It kept happening even after they switched kegs and claimed they cleaned the lines.

Anyway, I have yet to try their new pub on McCaul, Sin and Redemption. I sincerely hope it is better!

A few friends and I were hungry and decided to stop into The Village Idiot pub for food.

The waitress came to our table without a smile on her face, she seemed extremely unenthusiastic, impatient, and generally cranky.

I asked her about a beer on the menu and she blatantly did not answer me, and simply waited for me to order the beer. My friends only wanted water to go with their meal, so they just asked her for water.

This sent her over the edge, she immediately made the comment, "Four people and one beer?!? okkkk......" rolled her eyes, and walked away from the table.

We immediately decided we would not be ordering food because of her comments and attitude. We felt extremely uncomfortable. When she came back to the table and asked us what we wanted I told her we would not be eating because of her service. She then reached across the table and took the water that she has just given to my friends!!!! She then left, got the bill, folded it, and threw it on the table!!!
